YTY Recognized for ESG Excellence at Sustainability & CSR Malaysia Awards 2026

YTY has once again been recognized for its commitment to sustainable manufacturing and responsible business practices, receiving the Company of the Year (Manufacturing) – Operational Sustainability Champion award at the 11th Annual Sustainability & CSR Malaysia Awards 2026.  This achievement marks YTY’s second consecutive recognition by Sustainability & CSR Malaysia, reaffirming the company’s leadership in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) excellence and its continued commitment to building a more sustainable future through innovation, responsible operations, and ethical business practices.
Organized by CSR Malaysia, an initiative of Pertubuhan Amal Tanggungjawab Kemapanan Dan Korporat Malaysia, the annual awards honor organizations that have demonstrated outstanding commitment to sustainability, corporate social responsibility, and nation building.  This year’s event brought together approximately 800 corporate leaders, policymakers, NGOs, and industry stakeholders, with more than 70 listed companies, government-linked companies (GLCs) and private enterprises recognized for their contributions to ESG excellence and community development.
The awards ceremony was officiated by YB Puan Lim Hui Ying, Deputy Minister of Women, Family and Community Development Malaysia. Among the distinguished guests in attendance were Y.A.M. Paduka Puteri Tunku Mariam binti Al-Marhum Sultan Iskandar Al-Haj and Tan Sri Faizah Tahir, Patron of CSR Malaysia.  The winners were selected by an independent panel of distinguished judges representing corporate, professional, and social organizations, with entries evaluated based on the effectiveness, innovation, measurable impact, and long-term sustainability of their ESG and CSR initiatives.
YTY received its award in recognition of its significant progress in operational sustainability throughout 2025, driven by strategic investments that have accelerated the group’s decarbonization journey.  Key initiatives include the implementation of a 6.55 MWp solar energy project, the development of a 10 MW combined heat and power (co-generation) project, and the rollout of multiple energy efficiency technologies designed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions while improving manufacturing performance.  These initiatives, together with numerous other energy, waste, and water management projects underway across YTY, demonstrate the group’s long-term commitment to responsible manufacturing while supporting its Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) commitments and Net Zero ambitions.
RR Kanungo, Senior Vice President and Head of Sustainability at YTY, notes, ”Receiving this recognition for a second consecutive year is a strong affirmation that sustainability has become an integral part of how YTY operates and grows.  Our investments in renewable energy, decarbonization technologies, water stewardship, resource efficiency, and responsible manufacturing are not standalone initiatives.  They are embedded in our long-term business strategies.  We remain committed to delivering measurable environmental impact while maintaining operational excellence and creating lasting value for our employees, customers, and communities.”
RR Kanungo goes on to note, “YTY’s sustainability journey is guided by a comprehensive Sustainability Roadmap that integrates climate action, responsible resource management, human rights, and governance into the company’s long-term strategic direction.  By aligning our initiatives with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), YTY seeks to create lasting value for all stakeholders while helping build a more sustainable future.”
