YTY Subsidiary Achieves WRAP Platinum Social Compliance Certification
- Wednesday, December 7, 2022
YTY is pleased to confirm that its wholly-owned subsidiary, PT Medisafe Technologies, has been awarded a Platinum certification by the Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production (WRAP), which is a known and respected agency focused on promoting safe, lawful, humane and ethical manufacturing at facilities around the world.
Vikram Hora, Chief Executive Officer of YTY Group, notes “This is a proud moment for all of us. Medisafe Technologies has been focused on a parallel journey of social compliance excellence along with the rest of the Group for a number of years. The leadership team in Indonesia has remained steadfast in their quest to continue to enhance their standards, structure, and governance in respect of a broad range of social compliance matters, and earning a Platinum rating by an independent and accredited body like WRAP is evidence of this commitment to excellence.”
Vikram goes on to note “Not only does this achievement give our customers the confidence to continue to partner with us, but equally, it gives current and prospective employees the comfort and knowledge that Medisafe Technologies is an employer committed to protecting the rights and liberties of our people, whilst ensuring that the personal protective products we manufacture are done so safely, responsibly, and in a manner that safeguards and preserves our environment.”
Through a comprehensive unannounced onsite audit process, WRAP focuses on assessing 12 “principles,” or criteria, that are relevant in the context of social compliance, and which are based on generally accepted international workplace standards, local laws, and workplace regulations. These include compliance with laws and workplace regulation, prohibition of forced labor, prohibition of harassment and abuse, health and safety, and freedom of association and collective bargaining. The full list of the 12 principles assessed can be found here.
Lenin Rajan, CEO of Medisafe Technologies, notes “We are delighted to be conferred such a rating by WRAP. We have engaged with WRAP across the years to ensure we get evaluated regularly, not only to remain in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, but also as a way to remain actively engaged in the evolving discourse relating to social compliance policies, frameworks, and attitudes.”
Lenin goes on to note “We were the first medical glove manufacturing company in the world to achieve a WRAP Gold certification some years ago, and I am very proud to note we are also the first medical glove manufacturer to now achieve Platinum certification. Moreover, we are led to believe that only some 10% of entities within the WRAP network of over 3,300 certified facilities achieve Platinum status, which puts us in a unique cadre of corporations who not only meet the rigorous standards set forth by WRAP, but who consistently demonstrate compliance to such standards year after year.”
