YTY Industry Recertified with WRAP Gold Social Compliance Accreditation

YTY Industry is pleased to announce it has been awarded a second consecutive Gold certification with no findings by Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production (WRAP) for our Malaysian manufacturing operations. WRAP is an independent not-for-profit audit agency with a globally recognized accreditation standard that utilizes a rigorous and well-defined certification framework for social compliance monitoring and evaluation.
Harinder Kaur, Head of Social Compliance & Corporate Governance at YTY, notes “We view it as an achievement to be recognized by WRAP with a Gold certification once again for our manufacturing facilities in Malaysia, given WRAP’s stringent protocols, comprehensive assessment, and unannounced site audits that form the basis for their eventual scoring determination. The result achieved is a testament to YTY’s unwavering commitment to the prevention of systemic instances of forced labor, safe and compliant working and living conditions, regulated environmental processes, and ethical business practices.
WRAP Gold status is awarded to manufacturers that demonstrate exemplary compliance with WRAP’s “12 Principles,” which are criteria based on generally accepted international workplace standards, local laws, and workplace regulations. They include the spirit, or language, of relevant conventions of the International Labour Organization (ILO), the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD)’s Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises. The method of evaluation places specific focus on areas that reinforce responsible manufacturing, such as a company’s compliance with local laws and regulations, prohibition of forced labor and child labor, prohibition of harassment and abuse, health and safety, working hours, and freedom of association and collective bargaining, amongst others
Harinder concludes by noting “The recognition by WRAP of the high standards of social and business compliance excellence we maintain at manufacturing facilities in multiple geographies across our organization should clearly demonstrate to all stakeholders that medical gloves manufactured at YTY are done so with the same consistent and sound operating philosophy, and in a manner that meets elevated global standards of professionalism, respect for the individual, and business ethics, to which we hold ourselves accountable to.”
Based on the achievements of its wholly-owned subsidiary, PT Medisafe Technologies, YTY, was the first glove manufacturer in the industry to be awarded a WRAP Gold certification in 2019, and was also the first in the industry to be awarded a WRAP Platinum certification in 2022, after PT Medisafe maintained, for multiple consecutive years, its Gold accreditation.
