YTY Recognized Once Again by MSOSH for Excellence in Workplace Health and Safety

YTY is pleased to announce it has once again been recognized by the Malaysian Society for Occupational Safety and Health (MSOSH), the leading professional body within Malaysia in this space, for continued excellence in workplace safety.
YTY was formally recognized and awarded at the 42nd MSOSH Awards Ceremony, held on November 11, 2024, in Selangor, Malaysia.  At the ceremony, both of the company’s primary operating facilities, YTY Lekir and YTY Acheh, were awarded Gold Class 1 certifications. The period under review was for 2023, with audits conducted between July and August 2024.  The comprehensive audit review involved a wide array of occupational health and safety agencies, including representatives from MSOSH, Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH), National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), Standards and Industrial Research Institute of Malaysia (SIRIM), Pertubuhan Keselamantan Sosial (PERKESO), Malaysian Employer’s Federation (MEF), and the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM).
The annual MSOSH awards recognize leading companies across Malaysia who have demonstrated an exemplary health and safety track record, foster a health and safety-conscious culture, and display an advanced commitment to workplace safety in their operations.
Andrew Gilbert, Vice President of Manufacturing Operations at YTY, commented “We are appreciative that MSOSH, through a comprehensive and data-driven assessment, has favorably recognized the high standards of excellence YTY has demonstrated in occupational safety.  Over 270 companies participated in this intensive review, including large local conglomerates like Petronas, as well as Malaysian subsidiaries of leading multinationals like Hershey, Cargill, and Avery Dennison.  We are pleased to be recognized for our performance against these respected peers, and the results confirm that local companies can also build and maintain world-class safety cultures within their respective organizations.”
Andrew further notes, “Given the scale and footprint of our manufacturing operations in North Malaysia, we remain committed to maintaining a workplace culture that focuses on protection, safety, and engagement.  Recognition of this deeply ingrained corporate ethos by MSOSH as part of their recent review provides us with additional motivation to maintain an advanced safety climate, a safe and hospitable work environment for our employees, and a collective commitment to strive for improved safety outcomes.”
