YTY Equips Teachers with Design and AI Skills to Inspire Tomorrow's Leaders

As part of its broader commitment to community development, YTY recently organized a Graphic Design Workshop that successfully upskilled 60 public school educators in the greater Manjung area.  Recognizing the vital role that teachers play in shaping young leaders, YTY focused this initiative on providing educators with digital tools and creative techniques they could take back and apply in their classrooms to elevate learning outcomes.
Organized in partnership with the Manjung District Education Office, the workshop was conducted over two days in two separate cohorts to accommodate the strong demand from educators keen to attend.  Using Canva, an intuitive, user-friendly online design platform, the workshop aimed at providing teachers with design literacy to enhance their ability to develop visually appealing and interactive learning materials.  The workshop also encouraged educators to embrace digital solutions in novel ways to foster greater student curiosity and drive increased classroom participation.
Teachers worked hands-on with individual laptops in a series of project-based learning sessions that encouraged the real-time application of education-friendly design concepts.  Essential digital media competencies were focused on such as creating interactive quizzes, developing immersive and hyperlinked video lessons, and harnessing AI-powered tools to generate educational content with greater impact.  Importantly, every digital resource developed by the teachers could be taken back and integrated into existing lesson plans and teaching curriculums.
Tuan Haji Musa Hamid, District Education Officer for Manjung notes, “Teachers are at the heart of our educational system. Empowering them with modern digital skills will allow them to create more interesting learning environments and provide enhanced educational outcomes for their students.  The YTY-sponsored workshop not only equips teachers with valuable design knowledge but also gives them the confidence that they now have the relevant skillset to engage with a digitally conversant generation of students.”
Aliza Khalid, YTY Group Head of Corporate Social Responsibility, notes, “At YTY, we believe deeply in the power of education and recognize the profound impact teachers have on young minds.  By upskilling educators in the manner undertaken, we hope they will engage, inspire, and develop tomorrow’s leaders in more impactful ways.  This initiative reflects our ongoing commitment to curating shared experiences and building a deeper sense of community in the process, this time through the intersection of education, digitalization, and creativity.”
Participating teachers expressed strong appreciation for the workshop, noting greater confidence in creating teaching aids, presentation materials, and creative content.  Many shared that the experience renewed their enthusiasm for adopting digital innovation more broadly in their classrooms to ensure they keep up with modern educational practices and integrate the latest knowledge-transfer techniques between student and teacher.
